“English Writing Workshop” organized by UNDIP Community Service Program (KKN) Team II has been warmly received and responded by the community members in Kemlayan. The event took place in Kemlayan Village, Serengan District, Surakarta City. This writing project is a component of mono-disciplinary work program designed by Shasqia Alifia, an undergraduate student of English Literature. Through partnership and with Forum Anak “Pelangi” Kemlayan, the program stimulated collaboration and teamwork throughout its execution. The workshop was enthusiastically attended by the members of Forum Anak “Pelangi” Kemlayan. The exercise started with facilitated brainstorming sessions assisted by members of Community Service Program (KKN) Team II. The participants were encouraged to express their ideas.
The participants were encouraged to express their dreams, aspirations, and hope through writing. The objective of this program is to enhance their writing skills, promote literacy, and inspire the members of Forum Anak “Pelangi” Kemlayan to follow their dreams and goals. This program’s outcome go beyond merely enhancing the student’s English writing skills. It also produced a tangible product, a creation of a book title Book of Dreams . This book is a collection of their writings, featuring stories about their inspiring dreams and ambitions.
“This work program has has a positive impact on Forum Anak “Pelangi” Kemlayan, as it has inspired its members to achieve their dreams. The product of this program, Book of Dreams, is also a proof that Forum Anak “Pelangi” Kemlayan is able to create something meaningful with the help of UNDIP Community Service Program (KKN) Team II,” Kevin, the Head of Forum Anak “Pelangi” Kemlayan, stated. Going forward, this book will also be included to the collection at reading corner in Kemlayan Village. Additionally, it is an initiative to strengthen the reading corner in Kemlayan by offering kid and youth friendly books. With the completion of this work program, we hope that the literacy and enthusiasm among the Forum Anak “Pelangi” Kemlayan will continue to grow.
