Semarang, 16 August 2025 — The Diponegoro Summer Course in Corpus Linguistics (DIPSCORLING 2025), organized by the Undergraduate Program in English Literature, Faculty of Humanities, Diponegoro University, officially concluded successfully on Friday (16/8). The six-day program, held from 11–16 August 2025, was attended by 120 participants from 12 countries: Indonesia, Argentina, China, the Philippines, Hong Kong, the United States, the United Kingdom, Malaysia, Pakistan, Yemen, Egypt, and Greece.

Carrying the theme of introducing and deepening corpus linguistics, the program offered a series of sessions on corpus query systems, frequency analysis techniques, collocation, and discussions of participants’ work during the idea panel session. Participants also had the opportunity to attend special lectures from international speakers and engage directly in discussions about their research projects.
The speakers invited to this summer course were highly competent experts in their respective fields. The four speakers were Dr. James Balfour from the University of Glasgow, Dr. Tanjun Liu from Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, Dr. Matthew Gillings from the Vienna University of Economics and Business, and Mr. Prihantoro, Ph.D., a faculty member at Diponegoro University.

DIPSCORLING is an annual program consistently held by the Faculty of Humanities, Diponegoro University, as an effort to expand access to linguistics learning for participants from various countries. Each year, the program features international speakers and a series of academic sessions designed to keep pace with the latest developments in corpus-based research, making it one of the most anticipated regular events for the global linguistics community.

This online program also opens opportunities for broader international networking. With the smooth implementation of DIPSCORLING 2025, the English Literature Program, Faculty of Humanities, Undip, expects that similar events will attract even more international participants in future editions. The English Literature Program of Diponegoro University expressed its appreciation for the enthusiasm of participants from diverse academic backgrounds. Plans are underway to further develop this program as a space for cross-country collaboration, not only in linguistics but also in literature and cultural studies.
